Piedmont HealthCare is pleased to welcome Ada Okwara, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician, to its Urgent Care and Express Care team. Dr. Okwara has joined Piedmont HealthCare following theretirement of Dr. Robert Kimball, who served the community for more than 30 years and retired on July 31.
As Medical Director of Piedmont HealthCare Urgent Care and Express Care, Dr. Okwara will continue the longstanding commitment of providing accessible, high quality care for patients when they need it most. In addition to seeing patients at both Urgent Care and Express Care locations, she will provide clinical leadership and oversight for the advanced practice clinicians (APCs) across both practices, ensuring patients benefit from physician-guided care.
Dr. Okwara is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and chose urgent care because it allows her to care for patients beyond the traditional office setting.
“One of the things I love most about urgent care is being able to care for patients when they need us,” said Dr. Okwara. “Illness and injuries don’t always happen during regular office hours, and I wanted to practice in a setting where I could be available for patients on evenings, weekends, and other times when access to care is so important.”
Dr. Okwara is passionate about expanding access to care and believes every patient deserves timely, compassionate treatment, whether it’s during the workday, in the evening, or on the weekend.
Dr. Okwara is now seeing patients at Piedmont HealthCare Urgent Care and Express Care. Patients benefit from convenient walk-in access, physician-led care, and, in many cases, lower out-of-pocket costs. Because PHC Urgent Care and Express Care are billed as a primary care office visit for many insurance plans, patients often pay less than they would at a traditional urgent care center, making them a smart option for non-emergency illnesses and injuries.
