PHC Announces the Retirement of Dr. Robert Kimball After 30 Years of Service

After three decades of caring for patients and serving the community, Piedmont HealthCare announces the retirement of Robert Kimball, MD, Medical Director of Statesville Urgent Care and Mooresville Express Care. Dr. Kimball’s final day seeing patients will be July 31, 2026.

Dr. Kimball joined Piedmont HealthCare during its founding year in 1996 and has spent his career at Statesville Urgent Care, where he became a familiar and trusted face for generations of families. As Medical Director, he has led both Statesville Urgent Care and Mooresville Express Care, mentoring advanced practice clinicians and helping build a culture centered on compassionate, high quality, patient-first care.

Beyond his clinical leadership, Dr. Kimball also helped guide the future of Piedmont HealthCare through his service on the physician Board of Directors. Elected by his peers, he served 13 years over three terms, helping shape the organization’s strategic direction and uphold its physician-owned mission.

For many people in the community, Dr. Kimball has been more than a physician. Together with his wife, Marian, who served as the Statesville Urgent Care office manager for over 20 years, they have spent decades investing in the people and organizations that make Statesville special. From community events to local nonprofits, the Kimballs have quietly given their time, support, and hearts to the community they call home. Their legacy is one of compassion, service, and lasting friendships.

“Dr. Kimball has been an integral part of Piedmont HealthCare since our earliest days,” said Walter Meadors, MD, PHC Medical Director. “His leadership, steady presence, and genuine compassion have impacted countless patients, coworkers, and families. His retirement will leave a large void and will be keenly felt. We are deeply grateful for his 30 years of service and wish him and his wife all the best as they begin this exciting new chapter.

As Dr. Kimball enters retirement, he looks forward to spending more time with his family, including his children and grandchildren, traveling, and continuing to make memories with friends and loved ones.

His legacy of exceptional urgent care will continue with the arrival of Ada Okwara, MD, who recently joined Statesville Urgent Care and is working alongside Dr. Kimball to ensure a seamless transition for patients. Dr. Okwara is committed to continuing the tradition of compassionate, accessible care that patients have come to expect and brings extensive urgent care experience.

Piedmont HealthCare extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kimball for 30 years of dedication, leadership, and service to the community. His impact will continue to be felt for many years to come.
