PHC Welcomes New Pediatrician, Meghan Holzmacher, MD

Piedmont HealthCare is pleased to welcome pediatrician Meghan Holzmacher, MD, who will begin seeing patients on July 27 at Piedmont HealthCare Pediatrics in Statesville. Dr. Holzmacher joins the practice following the retirement of Dr. Julie Schopps, a founding Piedmont HealthCare physician who cared for families in the Statesville community for more than 30 years.

Building on the strong foundation established by Dr. Schopps, Dr. Holzmacher looks forward to caring for the next generation of children and supporting families through every stage of childhood.

Dr. Holzmacher believes some of the best things for a child’s health are also the simplest: playing outside, staying active, getting enough sleep, and spending less time in front of screens. She enjoys partnering with families to create practical, healthy routines that support each child’s growth, development, and overall well-being.

“Families have always been at the heart of this practice,” said Dr. Schopps. “I am delighted to welcome Dr. Holzmacher and know she will continue providing the compassionate, personalized care our patients deserve. I am confident that I am leaving my practice in excellent hands.”

Outside of the office, Dr. Holzmacher enjoys hiking, exploring the mountains, and taking walks with her two golden retrievers. A former competitive dancer and volleyball player, she understands the lifelong value of staying active and enjoys encouraging children to discover fun ways to move and play.

Dr. Holzmacher earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami College of Arts & Sciences in Miami, Florida, and her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.

She is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics and holds certifications in Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Dr. Holzmacher is accepting new patients beginning July 27. To schedule an appointment or learn more, visit piedmonthealthcare.com or call 704-838-8245.
