Piedmont HealthCare is proud to announce that Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine (EPAM), a trusted provider of healthcare in the Elkin community since 1999, will join Piedmont HealthCare on July 1, 2026. Piedmont HealthCare is an independent, physician-owned medical group dedicated to preserving local, physician-led healthcare.

For more than 25 years, Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine has served families throughout the Yadkin River Valley with comprehensive care for patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. Known for its commitment to personalized, community-focused care, EPAM has been a longstanding and trusted healthcare partner for generations of local families. The practice offers a wide range of services including wellness visits, pediatric care, women’s health, preventive care, chronic disease management, immunizations, sports physicals, in-office lab and X-ray services.
By joining Piedmont HealthCare, EPAM patients will benefit from expanded access to a larger network of local, independent physicians and specialists while continuing to receive the same trusted care from the providers and staff they know.
“This is an exciting step for our patients and community,” said Dr. Alvaro Castillejo. “Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine has been a staple healthcare provider in Elkin for decades, and that commitment to compassionate, hometown care is not changing. Joining Piedmont HealthCare allows us to enhance what we offer by connecting patients to a broader network of independent providers while keeping care local.”
Patients can expect continuity in their care, including the same familiar providers, staff, and commitment to serving the Elkin community. EPAM will become part of a larger network of independent, physician-owned practices that believe healthcare decisions should remain in the hands of local physicians and the patients they serve.
“Joining Piedmont HealthCare allows us to continue to fulfill our mission of high-quality, patient-focused care,” said Dr. Stephen Walker, founding physician of Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine. “We are excited to become part of a network that shares our values and commitment to independent medicine. This partnership allows us to enhance the resources available to our patients while preserving the local relationships, physician leadership, and personalized care that have defined our practice for more than 25 years.”
