The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is alerting the public about potential rabies exposures connected to a mobile petting zoo that visited birthday parties and assisted living facilities in Iredell County.
If you or a family member had direct contact with animals from Farm Adventures between July 28 and August 27, please contact the Iredell County Health Department After-Hours Emergency Line at 704-878-3037 for an assessment and guidance on whether rabies post-exposure treatment is needed.
Do not wait for symptoms to develop. Rabies is preventable with prompt treatment following an exposure.
Iredell Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department is also prepared to evaluate potential rabies exposures and provide appropriate treatment.
