Piedmont Healthcare is pleased to announce Vivek Trivedi, MD, FACP, board certified gastroenterologist at Comprehensive Digestive Care in Statesville, NC, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the society of internists. The distinction recognizes achievements in internal medicine, the specialty of adult medical care.
The ACP, the largest medical specialty organization in the United States, is comprised of internists who have demonstrated scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to diagnose, treat and care for their adult patients with regard to preventative and illness care. An ACP Fellowship marks the pinnacle of integrity, professionalism, and scholarship.
According to the ACP, “To be elected a Fellow, doctors must show that they are always growing and learning. They may show this through such activities as teaching, being appointed to a hospital, performing public service, earning continuing medical education credits, publishing scientific articles, and receiving advanced training. They must also be recommended by other ACP Fellows who must attest to their character, ethics, and excellence in professional medical activities.” Dr. Trivedi was elected upon the recommendation of peers and the review of ACP’s Credentials Subcommittee.
Dr. Trivedi received his medical school training from NHL Municipal Medical College, Gujarat University, one of the premier medical schools in India. Upon moving to the United States, Dr. Trivedi completed his Internship and Internal Medicine residency as well as a Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Elmhurst, NY.
Dr. Trivedi is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association. He provides care for gastrointestinal ailments, with special interest in colon cancer prevention, GERD (acid reflux), Barrett’s esophagus, pancreato-biliary ailments, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and liver disorders. He performs routine endoscopic procedures (upper endoscopy and colonoscopy) and he is also proficient in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Endoluminal Stenting (esophageal, biliary, colonic stents), Radiofrequency Ablation of Barrett’s Esophagus and Small Bowel Video Capsule Endoscopy.
Dr. Trivedi joined Piedmont Healthcare and board certified gastroenterologist Robert Reindollar, MD, FACG, FAASLD, in 2013.
