Joel Sugarman, MD

Dr. Joel Sugarman, a third-generation physician, has chosen to practice in the Lake Norman area.  Sugarman, who was part of the Sanger Vascular Institute in Mooresville. Graduating as Valedictorian with a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of Florida, Dr. Sugarman went on to earn his Doctorate in Medicine from Wake Forest School of Medicine in 2000. He furthered his education with a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Molecular Genetics and a categorical internal medicine internship at Wake Forest. Completing his residency in Dermatology at the University of Missouri (Mizzou), Dr. Sugarman received specialized training in dermatologic surgery, focusing on the evaluation and management of cutaneous malignancy. Recently awarded an adjunct faculty position at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Medical School, Dr. Sugarman finds great satisfaction in his teaching role with medical students.
