PHC Celebrates National Nurses Week

Lauren Stone Martin, RN, BSN
Piedmont Healthcare Pediatrics

A princess, movie star, singer, ballerina… little girls want to grow up to be many things. Me… I wanted to be a nurse. For as long as I can remember, becoming a pediatric nurse had always been my biggest dream. It all started because of my sweet grandma, my Nanny Dorothy, and her dream to be a nurse. She had always told me she had wanted to be a nurse, but never got the opportunity to go after that dream. So, she encouraged me and was one of my biggest fans in supporting my dream of becoming a nurse. In 2008, when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, that dream became even more important to me. Seeing that terrible, crippling disease rob my precious grandma of her life, her memories, and her ability to care for herself was devastating, yet fueled my passion for becoming the nurse I had always wanted to be… the nurse she had always wanted me to be. Well, in May 2020, I reached that dream and officially became Lauren, RN, BSN and I can’t help but think she was smiling in Heaven at seeing our dream come true. Entering the nursing field at the height of a national pandemic was by no means easy, but man has it been so worth it! Nursing is my dream and my passion, and I thank the Lord every day that he allowed that little girl’s dream to come true!

Anna Jackson, RN
Piedmont Healthcare Allergy & Immunology
Being a nurse is the most rewarding job I have ever had. I want to recognize and thank the two nurses in my office. Kim Rosser RN and Mike Barker LPNThey helped start and run our infusions. Kim is one of the best nurses I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Not only are her skills superb but her compassion is beyond belief. She has helped train Mike who already had the compassion to become an excellent clinical nurse as well. I am truly blessed to work with them both. And I know our patients are well taken care of ❤️
