October is National Audiology Awareness Month, so here are some quick facts about noise-induced hearing loss:
Did you know that one in eight children ages six to 19 have noise-induced hearing loss? There are also 30 million workers exposed to hazardous levels of noise on the job every day. Additionally, hearing loss is the third most common health problem among older adults in the U.S., behind only arthritis and heart disease.
Hearing loss affects people of all ages in their everyday life. Those with untreated hearing loss are often excluded from conversations, leading to feelings of frustration, isolation and depression.
