Dr. Douglas Jeffery was a highly accomplished and dedicated neurologist who specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. He joined Piedmont HealthCare Lake Norman Neurology in 2014 where he established the first and only Multiple Sclerosis Clinic in the Lake Norman area. With a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Therapeutics and a Doctor of Medicine degree, Dr. Jeffery used his strong academic background to teach and participate in numerous clinical trials throughout his career. He founded Multiple Sclerosis clinics at both the VA Hospital at the University of New Mexico and Wake Forest University before leaving to provide patient care full-time.
Dr. Jeffery’s practice was unique in that he was the only Lake Norman Neurology physician to see patients with MS, or suspected to have MS, exclusively. Many of his patients had followed him from previous practices, and a number of those have said Dr. Jeffery saved them. It was not uncommon for his patients to travel several hours for an appointment. They came because they knew, by reputation or experience, that he was dedicated to his patients and helping them attain the best possible health and quality of life outcomes. His wife, Kim, said he wanted to change the world. For many of his patients, he did.
